I studied Banking and Finance at Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP), but I never imagined I would end up as a financial advisor. My journey into this industry began in 2016, when my brother, Jerald, convinced me to join him in this field. In the beginning, I wasn’t completely confident that this career was the right path, but after giving it a try, I quickly realized it was the right fit for me. Since then, I’ve worked hard and grown within the industry, earning a promotion to Manager in 2019 and, more recently, to Director in 2024.
Being in this industry has taught me so much about different perspectives in life. I’ve come to understand how unique each client’s financial goals and family plans are. There is no one-size-fits-all solution to every problem, and that’s one of the most important lessons I’ve learned. As a financial advisor, I always make an effort to see things from my clients’ point of view to offer them the best possible solutions tailored to their needs.

One of the most fulfilling moments in my career has been watching my team achieve their goals and reap the rewards of their hard work. Seeing them grow professionally and succeed is truly rewarding. It reinforces my belief that teamwork, dedication, and mutual support are essential to long-term success.

If there’s one trait I believe is crucial to excelling in this industry, it’s bravery—the bravery to face rejection and failure head-on. Without a strong desire to grow and improve, challenges can quickly turn into reluctance, and negativity can take root. In this field, you will face rejection and setbacks every day, but the key to success lies in how you respond. You have to embrace failure as part of the journey, learn from it, and keep pushing forward. I always tell newcomers to the industry: only join if you’re ready to face those challenges and overcome them to build a successful career on your own terms.

Through my journey, I’ve learned that personal and professional growth are intertwined, and it’s this growth that continues to drive me as I work to make a positive impact on both my clients and my team.
